A Child Needs Special Care

By Lubna, Teacher

I could never figure out why, but little eight-year old Iqra seemed to suffer from an inferiority complex. This was holding her back from excelling in school. She gained admission into a nearby government school, but she would merely sit in the class silently, which prevented her from her achieving her full potential. She remained in the school for only a year before she left. Next, she got admission in a madrassa to learn Arabic, but she remained solitary and withdrawn. Due to her ill health, the teacher requested her mother to leave the madirasa and get some rest. After an interval of almost a year she returned to the madrassa and finally began to show some improvement. Then, when “HUMAN DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION” started its program in that area (Adam Hingora Goth- Katchi Abadi of Malir Town Karachi) , she got admission into the “Child Friendly School” (CFS). The better learning conditions, care and friendly environment of CFS totally changed that little Iqra. Everyone was surprised to see the big difference, I was so proud of her.

Now the new Iqra is a very active child, participates in every activity and most important is that she learns with full devotion. Not only in school has she become the model child, but she is also a very good and exemplary child at home.

Introduction of Iqra:

Iqra (eight years old) is daughter of Muhammad Hanif, who lives in Adam Hingora Goth, Gharibabad Union Council, Malir Town Karachi. She is student of class-I in community Child Friendly School Adam Hingora Goth, Lubna is her class teacher.
