Out of the crises
By Chettan Kumar
Credit Disbursement and Recovery Officer
Shamsabad regionGhula Mohammad Mallah
lives in the village of Chania in
Shamsabad area. His father owned a
wholesale rice business. Their family
was one of the rich families of the
area. Unfortunately his father died
at the young age of 45. This was a
big shock, the business collapsed
and the family was in financial crises.
His
older brother worked as a blacksmith
but he was not doing well. Ghulam
Mohammad learned about HDF program
and joined the Development Organization
(DO), named Lab-e-Mehran. DO is a
local village based organization of
volunteers which is organized in all
HDF projects to get people involved
in its projects.
He applied for a credit of about
Rs. 16,000 and started a small grocery
shop in his village. As part of the
program he also received enterprise
management training.
Now his business is running successfully
and profitably. He initially reinvested
all his profits in the business to
make it grow. Now the family is out
of the crises and living quite comfortably.
He is thankful to HDF for providing
him this opportunity.
