Integrated Development Project In Islamabad

HDF is going to provide Education & Health related services to a cluster of 1,000 households in Dhok Tabarik Shaheed & the surrounding villages of Islamabad, where NRSP and PPAF are already providing rural development services.

The main objective of this integrated project is to develop a model village with an integrated program in collaboration with different partners.

As part of the implementation process HDF team undertook a survey of the village Dhok Tabarik Shaheed and prepared village profile focusing on the data that would provide base for the HDF-PPAF Education Program.

According to the findings of the HDF team:

  • There are 48 children of age group 5-10 years, not going to School (25 girls and 23 boys)
  • There are 196 illiterates (149 female and 47 male) of age group 15-40 years.

According to the findings the Village definitely needs at least two primary Schools and about 8 Adult Literacy Centers.

HDF would address the issue of Primary Education first and immediately after that will start establishing Adult Literacy Centers, when resolution for the same are received from the communities. HDF also intend to provide Elementary & Secondary Education to the girls of the area who have already passed their fifth grade. HDF also intends to provide preventive healthcare services to the population of the area.

HDF initiated this integrated project in the month of August 2002 and till now have achieved the following:

  • Social mobilization of the community members regarding our Education program
  • Conducted a complete survey and fond out exactly the number of children not going to School and number of illiterates in the village
  • Preparation of list of the potential students
  • Identification of potential teachers and held interviews for them
  • Provision of 7 days pre-service teachers training to the three selected teachers
  • Opening of a two-room NFBE School

When Dhok Tabarik Shaheed is fully covered, HDF will start providing services to the rest of cluster selected.
