Dear <NAME OR TITLE>,
According to UN assessment, the current earthquake disaster is, logistically,
worse than the Asian Tsunami. The UN says that there is a THREE WEEK window
of opportunity to save significant number of lives in the area devastated by
the earthquake. Currently, there are less than 50 helicopters in operation,
but according to UN estimates, three times as many helicopters are needed immediately.
The affected area is 125 by 190 miles, called Azad Kashmir & Hazara District
in northern Pakistan. Due to the Himalayan terrain and the extent of the devastation,
only 3 roads are functional, while 70% of the affected area remains accessible
only by helicopter. In the last 9 days, fewer than 30% of the villages have
been accessed.
. Following are the top priorities:
1) 200 helicopters
2) 500,000 Winterized tents
As your partner in humanity, we implore you to join us at this critical juncture
in providing the means to avoid a catastrophic human tragedy.
1) Exercise your influence in the governmental and civil society in mobilizing
the allocation of helicopters to this effort to evacuate the injured as well
as to deliver tents and critical surgical & medical supplies.
2) Call the U.S. State Department, President, and your Representatives.
3) Inform your entire congregation of this tragedy.
4) Pray for the dead, the wounded and the homeless resulting from this catastrophe.
Attached is a fact sheet. Thank you in advance for your time and efforts. Please
