Ups and Downs of Life
By YesPakistan.com Staff
Life is full of ups and downs. One
day we are rich and the other day
we loose everything. But, if we have
the will-power and proper resources
then we can change our condition.
That is exactly what happened with
Muhammad Ayub of Muslimabad.
Ayub’s father was a very famous
businessman known as Soomar Sodaagar
(businessman Soomar). During the India-Pakistan
partition his family was looted by
migrating Sikhs. The bandits took
Rs. 95,000. His family had to migrate
to Karachi and start hard labour to
survive. He was admitted to an orphanage
school where he completed his primary
education. He always secured 1st position
in class, but could not continue education
due to poverty.
He had to work as a labourer to support
his family. At times he worked for
only Rs. 300 a month because of his
financial situation. Then he started
to work as an electronic mechanic
with equipments borrowed from his
friend.
One day his wife informed him about
a female councillor of his area who
was requesting the women of the village
to form an organization to improve
their education, health and economic
status. “Form the group as soon
as possible,” he told his wife,
“because this is what we need.”
So, the females of his area formed
their Development Organization (DO).
After
two months of DO formation his wife
presented resolution for credit for
his business which was passed by DO.
Then he was called for appraisal.
During appraisal a male SO of HDF
advised him to form male DO and rather
than getting credit through female
DO. He formed a male DO to help other
males of his village and got the credit
of Rs. 20,000 for his business.
Using the credit he took from HDF
he purchased six old TVs and has earned
Rs.10,000 within the period of only
two months. He has also employed two
more persons and given them Rs.6,000
for a month. At present his business
has assets worth Rs.20,000 and Rs.15,000
is amount receivable of TVs sold recently.
He is now the president of Al-Falah
Development Organization of Muslimabad.
“Previously, I could hardly
give Rs.50 daily to my wife for daily
house expenses. But now, I give her
Rs.150 daily.” told Ayub. “I
can buy drinking water now, while
before my wife used to carry water
on her head walking for 2 km every
day.”
“I am happy now. I always attend
DO meetings and pay my instalments
on time.” told Ayub. “If
the institutions like HDF come and
work sincerely and honestly, it will
really bring change.”
