Relationship between HDF and the government of Pakistan
During the recent HDF telethon on PTV Prime, many people asked questions regarding
the relationship of HDF with the government of Pakistan. We believe that there
are many others out there who have the same questions. So we have decided to
use our web site to answer these questions
Does HDF get any financial support from the Pakistan Government?
HDF does not receive any funds from the Government of Pakistan nor does it
remit any of the funds it raises to any government or government entity.
Who are PHDF, NCHD, HDF, HDFNA and HDF Pakistan?
• HDF or HDFNA – The Human Development Foundation
is a civil society organization incorporated in 1997 in the United States providing
program services in Pakistan and in the U.S.
• HDF Pakistan - HDF Pakistan is a sister organization
of HDF operating since 1999. It was incorporated in Pakistan on April 25, 2001
with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, licensed as a public
company under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984. HDF Pakistan is governed
by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.
• NCHD – The National Commission on Human Development
is part of the federal government of Pakistan, formed as a result of long term
persuasion efforts by members of HDF in January of 2002.
• PHDF – The Pakistan Human Development Fund (PHDF)
is responsible for channeling resources from the Government of Pakistan, the
private sector and the international donor community into the NCHD and its programs.
What is the difference between NCHD and HDF?
HDF is an independent, civil society organization registered in the U.S. as
a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 tax exempt corporation. HDF programs are funded by
generous individual donors along with institutional support from non-governmental
institutions such as the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), Khushhali
Bank and UNDP.
The National Commission on Human Development in Pakistan (NCHD) is a government
entity whose funding is provided primarily by the government of Pakistan but
also from some individual donors and International institutions.
HDF is not connected with nor does it receive or remit any funding from or
to NCHD.
Is there any sharing of funds between NCHD & HDF?
There is no sharing of funds between HDF and NCHD. HDF does not receive any
funds from NCHD nor contribute any funds to NCHD. All your donations contributed
to HDF are used to implement HDF programs.
What is the relationship of HDF with the government of Pakistan?
HDF has no direct or legal relationship with the government of Pakistan. HDF
has collaborated with the ministry of education on certain limited projects
on a contractual basis.
