On
September 16th, the Human Development
Foundation’s Michigan Chapter
hosted another successful fundraising
and community awareness event. Hundreds
of local supporters helped raise funds
for HDF’s humanitarian efforts
in the underdeveloped areas of Pakistan.
HDF’s Detroit
events are much anticipated events
in the community. This year’s
guests included some prominent names
from the community: Dr. Amjad Hussain,
Waheed and Rana Akbar, past
presidents
of Pakistan American Friendship Society
(PAFS), Pakistan Association of America
(PAA), Mr. Faiz Khan of Voice of Pakistan
(WPON) and Mr. Jafri (Dil Dil Pakistan-
WPON).
Professor Adil Najam,
who is not a stranger to HDF supporters
all over the country, gave an enlightening
speech about the statistics and details
of Pakistani expatriate community’s
generosity and their willingness to
contribute to development projects
back in Pakistan as well as here in
the US. Dr. Atiya Khan, Vice Chair
of HDF, flew in from Maryland for
the event. She also shared some very
moving personal stories of individuals
who have been helped through HDF’s
programs.
The
fundraising part of the event was
conducted by Amir Ghauri of Geo TV.
All the guests participated enthusiastically
during the fundraising.
The organization committee
including Zeenat Anwar, Muzammil Malik,
Iqbal Nasir, Alamgir Khan, Nina Khan,
Mrs. Rufi Mussani, Farhat Osman, Khalid
Rao and Shahid Tahir, worked very
hard to put together a well-planned,
very successful event.
