How We Use Your Donation

Your donation helps us in many ways. Here is a brief explanation of how your donation may be used. For more information, please call our office at 1-800-705-1310.

• Where ever the money is needed most - To fund the most critical projects or meet the most pressing organizational needs.
  
• Pakistan Earthquake Fund - HDF Pakistan Earthquake Fund will be used sloely to help the vicitims of the recent erathquake.
  
• Education & school sponsorship – To support our education and literacy programs. You can become a sponsor of the year for any school in any of the HDF project sites by donating $1000. You will be provided a picture of the school and your name plate will be put on the school. You may choose to do this to honor a loved one. Call the office for more details at 1-800-705-1310
  
• Health & wellness –To provide basic health services to the people in HDF project sites. The emphasis is on women and children.
  
• Economic development – To help people become financially self-sustainable by providing them access to small loans to start small businesses and to build their capacity by enhancing their skills through training workshops. HDF does not make direct cash loans. Instead, once a borrower has met all qualification criteria we purchase the equipment and/or supplies needed to start the business and create a loan note for the value of that purchase.
  
• Water pumps & community infrastructure – To provide water hand pumps to villages for access to clean water. We also use this money to fund other small infrastructure projects, and we have even used it to build two small community dams in Balochistan to counter drought and regulate flooding during the heavy rainy season.
  
• Zakat – Your Zakat money goes directly into our Zakat Fund, which we use to address the most critical needs of our constituents.
  
• HDF Endowment Fund – Our Endowment Fund will eventually allow HDF to meet all day to day operational expenses, thereby allowing us to devote 100% of our donations directly to projects serving our constituents. But we still have a long way to go. You may donate any amount to this fund but you can become a Founding Member by donating $10,000 in any given year
  
• HDF support services – HDF cannot pursue its mission without a sound organizational infrastructure. Staff salaries, rent, utilities, and professional services like accounting and auditing are part of that infrastructure. We need your help in meeting these expenses. You may donate any amount to this fund however we encourage you to become a Sustaining Member by pledging $2000 per year for 5 years. Please be assured that HDF spends your money in the most efficient manner possible, and through our extensive use of volunteer labor (from our seemingly tireless group of dedicated volunteers) we make sure that your contribution delivers maximum effectiveness.

Recognition Levels

Founding Member - $10,000 or more in a calendar year. Founding Members must designate their donation for our Endowment Fund.

Sustaining Member - $2,000 per year for at least two years. Sustaining Members help us pay for the operational costs of running HDF. Please choose “HDF support services” as the designated Fund for your donation.

Project Sponsor - $1,000 or more in a calendar year. Project Sponsors should designate their contributions for one of our Program Services Funds, i.e. Education & school sponsorship, Health & wellness, Economic development, Water pumps & community infrastructure.

Family Sponsor - $15 per month per family for a minimum of one year. If you wish to become a family sponsor please indicate how many families you wish to sponsor.

What your contribution can buy*

$15 is the average cost of supporting one rural family of eight for a month

$100 provides vaccinations against tetanus for approximately 100 women

$250 - $350 will purchase one hand pump to provide clean water for a village

$250 will also fund one adult literacy session for six months

$1,000 can fund a school educating 30 – 35 children for one year

$25,000 allows us to begin construction on a new Community Health Center. Costs vary depending on a number of factors including the availability of a suitable building. Once placed in operation each subsequent year of operation for a CHC costs approximately $15,000.

If you wish to make a major contribution for a school or a Community Health Center please contact our office and we will set up a recognition program for you that can include naming the new facility in your honor and sending you pictures of the finished facility. * Donations at these levels are symbolic and may not represent the actual expenditure of your particular contribution. All money designated for a particular Fund will be spent only on the purposes served by that Fund, but within each Fund our staff and volunteers allocate money to the most critical needs within our project areas.
