NCPA Launches Toll Free Line for Help on Registration
WASHINGTON, DC, Jan. 15, 2003: The National Council of Pakistani Americans
(NCPA) today launched a toll free telephone line, in collaboration with The
Resource Foundation, a non-profit economic development group, to help people
on the INS Registration process.
"We are asking members of our community and also those from other communities
to call this toll free number to seek help. This service will work as a legal
aid referral and a liaison with the Embassy of Pakistan," said Faiz Rehman,
President NCPA.
The toll free phone number is: 1-888-213-2122.
This number is manned by a secretary. Please leave your information with the
secretary or into the voice mail box. Someone will get back with you within
24 hours. The information provided will be kept strictly confidential.
NCPA is one of the four civil rights groups who filed a lawsuit against the
recent mass arrests in California. NCPA members have had meetings with a US
Senator and high level INS officials regarding the issue of INS Call-In Registration.
NCPA also raised the profile of the issue with its prominent media appearances
and press releases.
The Washington-based National Council of Pakistani Americans (NCPA) has been
established to promote political, social, and economic interests of the Pakistanis
residing in the US. As an advocacy organization, it works actively and closely
with civil rights groups, media, the Congress, the US Administration, and community
organizations.
