Assalamu Alaikum!
As we approach the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks,
Pak-Americans are in a unique situation. Although they were among those who
died (including a Pak-American who was killed saving others), and Pakistan is
at the forefront of the war on terrorism, Pak-Americans are dealing with racism
and deportation without due process of law, among other ruthless practices.
While we need to sympathize with our neighbors, we also need to resolve that
saving America means saving its freedoms. We need to develop coalitions with
people who stand up for justice, peace and non-violence.

*~*~*~ Sindh Province of Pakistan
The early Arab geographers use to describe the current Pakistan area as Biladus
Sindh and the rest of India as Biladul Hind. The name Sindh, deriving from Sindhu,
the river Indus, properly designates the plains on either side of its middle
and lower course, from Attock to the Arabian Sea. The area below the plain of
the Indus, between the mountains of Balochisan and Thar. Sindh, has been Muslim
since 712 AD, when the Arab general Muhammad bin Qasim, overcame the Brahmin
ruler to rescue Muslim travelers captured by the ruler.

*~*~*~ Building bridges for America
Let's not allow our anxiety about corporate fraud, the fear of terrorism, and
Islamophobia to limit our freedom and that of our neighbors. Let's work with
our neighbors to build bridges for America.
