It was tonight, 27th of Ramadan when in 1947 Pakistan came into being. It was almost after 200 years of the first major defeat of Nawab Sirajuddaula of Bengal by the British and after 100 years of the last remaining Muslim freedom fighters of Syed Ahmad Shaheed's movement sacrificed their lives at the pass of Dubb, (Mansehra).

The victory of Ramadan 27th 1947 was a hard won victory. What Muslims had lost in the battle field was gained back with wisdom and commitment to the power of people with the blessing of God.

Let's make this 27th of Ramadan a night of reflections along with prayers. Let's talk to our Creator tonight about ourselves individually and as people collectively. Prayers become meaningful, when we think and reflect. And when we plan to achieve what we are praying for, we grow.

Here are our suggestions for this night:

Render to God our sincere and humble thanks:
No matter how difficult it may be in a world filled with pain and cruelty, there are moments when it is important to stop looking at all the problems and just to focus on all the good. Compare it with your past generation, compare it with other human beings who do not have what you have, compare it with the blues of the people living in oppression all over the world and be thankful to what you have. Giving thanks is healing to one's own soul, and it increases the total love, generosity, and God-energy in the world. Our Creator has said in the Quran: We give more to those who are thankful in word and behavior.

Seeking Forgiveness:
It is also a time to remember our shortcomings. How we violate rights of others. How we misbehave towards other human beings who may be different from us in any way. How we some time play God in judging others or rendering a vigilante justice to others. We are guilty of ignoring poor and the hungry. Our disobedience requires that we seek His forgiveness. We pray that the Lord of the World pardon our national and individual transgressions.

Praying for our dream:
We need to ask favors of God ourselves individually and collectively. For our personal dreams and the dreams for our people and the humanity in general.

Committing to the Struggle:
This night of power remember the powerless. Millions have lost their lives for the dream of a homeland with peace and liberty. Let us join hands together tonight to commit to liberate all human beings from the slavery of other beings, one family and one village at at a time. Let us stand on our feet instead of begging others for help. Let us help people help themselves.

It is our personal commitment and the Mercy of God, which will make us succeed in this world and in the hereafter, insha Allah.

Wassalam
