The United States is truly a diverse
nation made up of dynamic people. Since this nation's founding, more than 55
million immigrants from every continent have settled in the United States. In
fact, with the exception of Native Americans, everyone living in this country
is either an immigrant or the descendent of voluntary or involuntary immigrants.
Among them are Americans of Pakistani origin. We all stand together in full
support of our country, while we hope and make efforts that the countries we
have left behind also advance with the ideals of democracy and self-determination.
Independence Day is a good time to
examine who we are and how we got here. This Fourth of July we must ask ourselves:
what kind of commitment to America will benefit our children, our compatriots,
the world, and us?
The Fourth of July commemorates America’s
independence from England. The event is celebrated with much fanfare, fireworks,
and festivity. But it’s also an important time to remember the many blessings
that God has given this country and how we are benefiting from them.
