Assalamo Alaikum
Thank you for taking a few moments to read through
this letter. And don’t worry, we are not asking you for money. But we
are asking if you would give us just a bit of your time.
The Ramadan season this fall will be especially
important to the success of our continuing efforts. As you know, many Muslims
calculate their Zakat during this time, and the level of potential donations
increases dramatically. Many organizations use this period to reach out to Masjids
throughout the country to ask for their members’ support. In the past,
HDF has not fully utilized this important communication channel to inform Masjid
attendees of the importance of our mission and the scope of our successes.
With your help during this Ramadan season we would
like to reach out to Masjids across the country. Will you help us realize this
opportunity? Can we ask you to reach out to your friends and to your Masjid
to introduce them to HDF and encourage them to become a part of our movement
for positive social change and community empowerment through mass literacy,
enhanced quality of education, universal primary health care and grassroots
economic development? Will you help us to help more people help themselves?
If you can give a bit of your time to help us improve
the lives of thousands on Pakistan, please
fill out the form.
Thank you again for your continuing support and
your belief in our mission.
Sincerely,
Shahnaz Khan, MD

Plan for Beijing Olympics 2008
Pakistanis had two things to celebrate
about at the Athens Olympics 2004. The first was the Olympic silver medal success
of 17-year-old Amir Khan, the British boxing sensation of Pakistani origin.
The second was a world record for the youngest Olympiad, 13-year-old Rabab Raza.
In respect to her faith tradition, she donned a full body suit and finished
5th in the 50 meter free-style. [read

Memorial Day
September 6th is what Pakistanis
celebrate as Defense Day. It is more like a Memorial Day when Pakistanis remember
how Pakistanis stood united in 1965 against the Indian aggression.

What is the reason
for Pakistan's poor olympic performance?
A Ray of Hope
Now, my children can build a future for themselves. They are running
a successful enterprise as well as acquiring an education and that too because
of HDF. 3 of my younger children attend HDF’s child friendly school Falak.
My eldest daughter, who could not acquire an education because she had to work
to support us, successfully completed an adult literacy course. Due to the good
conditions granted to us by Allah and facilitated by HDF, I have also repaid
my credit loan, and my children feel that we are ready to expand our zari enterprise.
