Assalamu alaikum,
Black History Month is not simply a time for African-Americans to take pride in and to educate others about their history and achievements.
It is also a time for Pakistanis to educate themselves. It's a time to remember the struggle against slavery, oppression and racism, which continues to this day. Discover what you can do this month to make a difference!
You can help other Pakistanis, especially those who have recently arrived in the US, learn how to stand up for their rights and fight against discrimination here.
While the slavery of blacks in America has been abolished, thanks to the monumental efforts of the Civil Rights movements, racism and prejudice among Pakistanis and Muslims remain. Launch your personal Jihad against prejudice in the Pakistani community.
There is another kind of discrimination and oppression that Pak-Americans need to consider: Bonded Labour in Pakistan, which most of us erroneously believe didn't exist in Pakistan since it was outlawed 13 years ago.

Who Promotes Racism in Pakistan the most?
Muslims in the Mirror: Prejudice in the Muslim Community Sadly, many Hindu notions of discrimination still influence a number of ignorant Muslims in South Asia who will not, for instance, marry outside if they are Syed (claim lineage to the Prophet), Shaikh (a business community) or across tribal lines if they come from the "Khans," "Moghuls" or "Jats". Scourge of Bonded Labour in Pakistan Most of us erroneously believe that slavery has never existed in Pakistan and bonded labour ended 13 years ago when the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1992 was adopted by the National Assembly. But the fact is that this law abolished bonded labour only on paper, and not in reality. [read more] 
Bonded Labour in Pakistan In the days and months after the Supreme Court's judgment of 1989, tens of thousands of bonded labourers in Pakistan's brick kilns left the jobs which they had been doing as a result of the pressure of debt bondage.
